Where in your life do you follow your heart?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 12, 2008:
I think up until a few weeks ago, I would've only said with animals. If I see an animal, it doesn't take a thought, I just want to play with it and be joyful and I let go of all my thoughts or concerns. It sounds silly, but even when walking down the street, if there's a dog being walked, no matter what's going on, I can always look at it and smile, if the owner's in a hurry and doesn't want strangers touching his/her dog. It just clears things up in an instant. Even pigeons do that. I see a pigeon, I immediately re-center and feel joyful, playful, myself.
Then a few weeks ago, i think I learned what it meant to speak my truth in love and trust. And I did. And it went well. And it has only gotten better since. I'm still learning to listen to this heart of mine when it comes to work and careerish things, but I've noticed that it's much easier for me to feel loving and hopeful to the people in my life because I'm trusting my heart and the world around me to be leading me in love and joy, not setting me up for heartbreak and disaster. Though I tend towards extreme optimism in general, now I feel a sense of calm and trust coming through, too--it's been interesting, even in conversations with close friends I've known for years, I sense new things coming out of them, new ideas, new things. I think when I learned to open my heart up a bit more, it leads me to see the beauty and potential in a lot of things I started making assumptions about. So, long shpiel to say, I hope I will learn and grow and continue to follow my heart in ALL areas of my life, with trust and love.
